Part of being a Zebra is knowing yourself, your body, because your body tells you what's on "The down low"
Being a Zebra you learn about your body,

"Can I go to the mall and the Car parts store?"
Yes, or no, Zebras make this choice daily, picking out the most important things to do.

And if we're not well enough, then we don't do it.

Think of your body like batteries,
Do I have enough energy(batteries) to do_________ and _________?

Learning to read your body's signals is essential, because if you don't have the Batteries to do both, well, you just might have pulled a trigger.

Now you may ask, what does a trigger have to do with this.

Triggers are what we call, how do I say it?

Basically it's something that you do NOT want to do or to happen to you, eating something your allergic too can set off a trigger.

A trigger is more than being itchy after eating something your allergic too,
a trigger can put in the hospital, in bed, for months.
Zebras try to avoid them like the plague.
A trigger sets off your illness.

Another way to put it and this is easier I believe for Zebras and friends of Zebras.
It's called The Spoon Theory.

This concept has been around for years and a lot of Zebras use this.
It's a great way to share and show your family/friends what it's like and also a great way to gauge your energy so you don't pull any triggers.

It helps communication between Zebras and non Zebras.
The Spoon Theory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz0f0RVra48 This is a video with the script, it was done by pierocks2393 on YouTube.
The Spoon Theory was made by Christine Miserandino.

The Spoon Theory was a game changer for me and my family. it helped us connect.

Christine Miserandino has Lupus and used The Spoon Theory to explain Lupus, but we've found it works with most Zebras. Mostly it doesn't really matter what illness, it explains how it feels to be sick, to be a Zebra.
